4.this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments. 5.For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.

SUMMARY

If the meaning of today's text is interpreted as "knowing the gospel can make you not be deceived" or "be alert and keep on studying the Bible hard lest you should be deceived", it can be a big misunderstanding of the apostle Paul's words. Rather, it means to reveal the reality of human beings being deceived by the 'father of lies(John 8:44)' throughout your daily life ; if you have eyes to see the reality of man like this, it is not by your ability, but by the mercy of God in Christ. 오늘 본문의 의미를 ‘복음을 알면 속지 않을 수 있다’거나 혹은 ‘깨어서 속임을 당하지 않도록 계속해서 성경을 열심히 공부하라’는 의미로 해석한다면 그것은 사도 바울의 말을 크게 오해하는 것이 된다. 오히려 이 말은 ‘거짓의 아비(요8:44)’에 의해 속임 당하는 인간의 실상을 날마다의 당신의 삶을 통해서 드러내라는 것이다 ; 당신이 이 같은 인간의 실상을 볼 수 있는 눈이 있다면 그것은 당신의 실력이 아니라 그리스도 안에서 베푸신 하나님의 긍휼로 말미암은 것이다.

However, the devil, the ‘father of lies’, covered the eyes of humans, so humans rely on their own possibilities and the steadfastness of their will. So they seek to be blessed in this life and in the life to come by not doing what is forbidden in the Bible and by doing what it commands to do. In addition, in order not to reveal the reality of their ‘chaos and emptiness’, they try to give order and system to their own life and knowledge of their salvation anyway. 그러나 ‘거짓의 아비’인 악마가 인간의 눈을 가려놨기에 인간들은 자신들의 가능성과 자신들의 의지의 굳건함에 의존한다. 그래서 그들은 성경에서 금지하는 것을 행하지 않음으로써 그리고 행하도록 명령하는 것들을 행함으로써 현세와 내세의 복을 받으려고 추구한다. 또한 자신들의 ‘혼돈과 공허’의 실상을 들키지 않으려고 어찌하든지 자신의 삶과 자신의 구원에 관한 지식에 스스로 질서와 체계를 부여하려고 애쓴다.

They cannot even imagine that this is the evidence that they are deceived by the devil and themselves. When someone quarrels about this point, they rather wonder, "What is the problem with me doing what the Bible tells me to do?" and they resent about it, considering that their own righteousness has been attacked. 이 점이 바로 자신들이 악마와 자기 자신에게 속고 있는 증거가 됨을 그들은 상상도 못한다. 누군가가 이 점에 대해 시비를 걸면 그들은 오히려 ‘내가 성경이 지시하는 대로 행하는데 도대체 무엇이 문제란 말인가?’라고 의아해 하면서 이것을 자신의 의로움이 공격당한 것으로 여기고 분노한다.

But God reveals God's righteousness and the gospel of heaven by attacking the order system established by humans, their 'ego' and their righteousness, and declaring God's curse and judgment on them. John the Baptist was called for this work. When he saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he shouted to them. ; “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath(Mat. 3:7)?” 그러나 하나님은 인간들이 세워놓은 질서체계와 그들의 자아와 그들의 의를 공격하고 그것들에 대한 하나님의 저주와 심판을 선언하는 방식으로 하나님의 의와 천국복음을 드러내신다. 세례 요한은 이 일을 위하여 부름을 받은 사람이다. 그는 많은 바리새인과 사두개인들이 자신이 세례 베푸는 데 오는 것을 보고 그들을 향하여 이렇게 외쳤다. “독사의 자식들아 누가 너희를 가르쳐 임박한 진노를 피하라 하더냐(마 3:7)”

This reproach of John the Baptist sounds ridiculous and absurd to those who think their world has no problem. It sounds forced. Because, from their point of view, that ‘the coming wrath’ itself is a one-sided assertion of John the Baptist, and more seriously, John is making ridiculously rebuke on them that they ‘try to avoid the coming wrath’. But this attitude of John the Baptist is the very attitude of the Gospel, and God's attitude toward a world that shows off its own righteousness and its ability. 세례 요한의 이 책망은 자신들의 세상이 아무런 문제가 없다고 여기는 자들에게는 참으로 어이없고 황당하게 들린다. 그것은 심한 억지소리로 들릴 게 틀림없다. 왜냐하면 그들의 입장에서 볼 때 ‘임박한 진노’라는 것 자체가 세례 요한의 일방적 주장이며 게다가 더 심각한 것은 요한은 그들이 ‘임박한 진노를 피하려 든다’고 터무니없는 책망을 하고 있기 때문이다. 그러나 세례 요한의 이런 태도가 바로 복음의 태도며 자신의 의로움과 자신의 실력을 과시하는 세상에 대한 하나님의 판결이며 하나님의 태도이다.

Even in the writings of the prophet Isaiah, God's judgment and attitude toward the people of Judah and Jerusalem are clearly revealed. Isaiah 1:9, “Unless the LORD Almighty had left us some survivors, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.” 선지자 이사야의 글에도 유다와 예루살렘 사람들에 대한 하나님의 판결과 태도가 분명하게 드러나 있다. 이사야 1:9, “만군의 여호와께서 우리를 위하여 조금 남겨 두지 아니하셨더면 우리가 소돔 같고 고모라 같았었으리로다”

God presents to those who are mistaken for serving God well according to the law what God's eye is different from theirs. In other words, it means that you are already over, the world is in a whirlwind of chaos, and the reason this world of chaos is still preserved is because there are 'some survivors' who LORD Almighty has left. 하나님은 율법에 의거해서 하나님을 잘 섬긴다고 착각하고 있는 자들에게 그들의 것과 다른 하나님의 안목의 어떠함을 제시하신다. 즉 그것은 너희는 이미 끝장났고 세상은 혼란의 소용돌이 가운데 있으며 이 혼란의 세상이 그나마 보존되고 있는 것은 전능하신 주께서 ‘조금 남겨 두신 자들’이 있기 때문이라는 의미이다.

The fact that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit from a virgin who did not sleep with a man is an expression of God's way to deny the entire human history and expose its impossibility. It is beyond human knowledge, human understanding of good and evil, common concepts in the human world, human customs, human common sense, and human abilities, and is unacceptable to humans. 예수님이 남자와 잠자리를 하지 않은 처녀에게서 성령으로 말미암아 잉태되신 것도 인간역사 전체를 부정하시고 그것의 불가능함을 노출시키기 위한 하나님의 방식의 표출이다. 그것은 인간의 지식과 인간의 선악적 이해와 인간세계에서 통용되는 개념, 인간의 관습과 인간의 상식과 인간의 능력 밖의 일이며 인간이 받아들일 수 없는 것이다.

God's will is that the fake kingdom of heaven built by the deceit of ‘the father of lies’ will have been destroyed and every knee in heaven and on earth and under the earth will have been bowed to Jesus Christ, the ruler of God's creation(Phil. 2:10/Rev. 3:14). God planned this before the creation of the world, and all things are as they are now according to the will of the Lord. 하나님의 뜻은 ‘거짓의 아비’의 속임에 의해 세워진 인간들의 가짜천국이 박살나고 하늘과 땅과 땅 아래의 모든 무릎이 하나님의 창조의 근본이신 예수 그리스도께 꿇는 것이다(빌 2:10/계 3:14). 하나님은 이 일을 창세전에 계획하셨고 만물은 주의 뜻대로 지금의 그 모습으로 있다.

The saints are those whose eyes of hearts have been suddenly enlightened by the Holy Spirit, regardless of their own will and ability(Eph. 1:18). It has been known to them that they have been justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus(Rom. 3:24) and that they are the remnants chosen by grace(Rom. 11:5) and that they are the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory--(Rom. 9:23). 성도는 자신들의 의지와 능력과 상관없이 성령으로 말미암아 그들의 마음눈이 불현듯 밝혀진 자들이다(엡1:18). 그들에게는 자신들이 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 구속으로 말미암아 하나님의 은혜로 값없이 의롭다 하심을 얻었고(롬3:24) 또한 자신들은 은혜로 택하심을 따라 된 남은 자들(롬11:5)이며 그들은 영광 받기로 예비하신바 하나님의 긍휼의 그릇들(롬9:23)이라는 것이 알려졌다.

Therefore, what they are paying attention to is not their salvation, but his desire for call (Eph. 1:18). That is, they are paying attention to why the Lord called them. Therefore, they are happy that they are even found out as ‘chaos and emptiness’. Because they know that the LORD has put them in that state. They know that the attempt to possess God's Word as their own and systematize it is an ‘evil thing that generates maggots and odors(Ex. 16:19-20)’. Therefore, they are satisfied only with the Lord's ‘daily bread’ and are grateful for his mercy. 따라서 그들이 주목하는 것은 자신들의 구원이 아니라 ‘그의 부르심의 소망(엡1:18)’이다. 즉 그들은 주님께서 왜 자신들을 부르셨는가에 주목하는 것이다. 그러하기에 그들은 자신들이 ‘혼돈과 공허’로 발각당하는 것까지도 기쁘게 여긴다. 그들은 주께서 그들을 그 상태에 두신 것을 알기 때문이다. 그들은 하나님의 말씀을 자신의 것으로 소유하고 또 그 말씀을 체계화하려는 시도가 ‘구더기와 악취를 발생시키는 악한 일’인 것을 안다(출 16:19-20). 그러므로 그들은 오직 주께서 주시는 ‘일용할 양식’으로 만족하고 그분의 자비에 감사한다.

The saints are those who have already passed the time when they were practicing according to ‘the written code(Col. 2:14)’. Hebrews 10:16, "This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." 성도는 ‘의문에 쓴 증서(골2:14)’에 따라 행하던 때가 지나간 자들이다. 히브리서 10:16, “주께서 가라사대 그 날 후로는 저희와 세울 언약이 이것이라 하시고 내 법을 저희 마음에 두고 저희 생각에 기록하리라”

In other words, the Holy Spirit came into their hearts with the covenant fulfilled through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Thus, their daily life is an infinite repetition of their ego being broken. Because the word of the Lord is not outside them, but comes into them and deals with their lives. The confession they share is this ; “My ego was broken by the Lord like this." 즉, 그들에게는 예수 그리스도의 몸을 단번에 드리심으로 말미암아 성취된 언약을 가지고 성령께서 그들의 마음 안으로 들어오시는 일이 벌어져버린 것이다. 따라서 그들의 일상은 그들의 자아가 깨어지는 일의 무한 반복이다. 주의 말씀이 그들의 외부에 있는 것이 아니라 그들 안으로 들어와서 그들의 삶을 다루기 때문이다. 그들이 나누는 고백은 이것이다 ; “나는 이렇게 주님에 의해 나의 자아가 깨어졌어요.”

The saints can rejoice when the things they have planned for themselves fail because they know that it is their Lord who made it so; they know that there is no need to push their 'ego' that the Lord has given them. All they have to do is have the pleasure of entrusting their lives to the Lord. 성도들이 자기 자신을 위해 계획했던 일들이 무산될 때도 기뻐할 수 있는 것은 그 일이 그렇게 되도록 하신 분이 그들의 주님이심을 알기 때문이다 ; 그들은 주께서 주신 그들의 자아를 못살게 굴 필요가 없다는 것을 안다. 그들은 주님께 자신들의 삶을 맡기는 즐거움을 누리기만 하면 되는 것이다.
